How does LingoWare work – The Technology

LingoCom has its own proprietary core technology that translates the Graphic User Interface (GUI) of Internet and software applications into different languages.

LingoWare technology is based on the following three components:

obullet1.gif (751 bytes)
 Interception techniques

Together, these three components form the core technology behind LingoWare's translation capabilities.

  • LingoWare Editor – a translation builder
The LingoWare Editor is the actual tool that is used to translate the application into different languages. The LingoWare Editor is easy to use, and requires absolutely no programming skills. Any professional or amateur translator with basic skills using Windows as a typical user is able to learn quickly how to use the tool to translate the GUI of applications.

  • The LingoWare Editor actually scans and finds and imports the text files of a program. The LingoWare Editor utilizes a technology whereby the words, phrases and sentences of the program are separated out from the code, and the translation is executed independently of the actual program. By using the LingoWare translation method, one does not need to make any changes to the actual program code. The entire translation is performed outside the program. The LingoWare Editor has "learning" capabilities, whereby words, phrases and sentences that have been inputted by the translator help to expand the knowledge base of the Editor.

The LingoWare Editor is currently available for the following languages: chinese (simplified), chinese (traditional), french, german, hebrew, italian, japanese, Portuguese (Brazilian), spanish, and swedish. More languages will be added, and there is no technical limit as to how many languages can be offered.

  • Interception techniques
LingoWare has developed a unique and innovative method called interception technology, whereby the English words, phrases and sentences are "intercepted" by the preferred language. The English words do not reach the screen, as their foreign language counterparts successfully make their way. This technique is clarified best through the below illustration.

  • Localization agent (on desktop)
The actual translation is enabled through the LingoWare server, which is connected to the end-users' (client) desktop. The application will run in its original English if the client is either removed or disabled.
