Frequently Asked
Questions
How does LingoWare
work?
LingoWare translators create translation files for selected programs. The files
"instruct" LingoWare how to translate the user-interface into different
languages. All you need to do is install LingoWare along with the required translation file
for the program you wish to use. When you run the program, LingoWare will automatically
translate its user-interface.
What else can LingoWare do for me?
In addition to translating programs from English into your own language,
LingoWare also enables you to change the look of your programs -- change colors, resize
and move controls, modify translations and even add your own notes to specific controls.
Read the LingoWare guide for more information about these
features.
Will LingoWare slow down my PC?
LingoWare is a light client, which consumes very little resources, both in terms
of RAM and disk space. Therefore you will not experience any slowdowns when running
LingoWare.
Which operating systems does LingoWare run on?
LingoWare supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4 and Windows 2000.
Will LingoWare translate any program I use?
LingoWare requires a program-specific translation file in order to translate a
program. For example, to use ICQ in a language other than English you must download the
appropriate translation file (unless it is already included in the LingoWare installation).
Can I customize the look of any program and any control?
Although LingoWare should work for any standard Windows program, there are programs which
implement non-standard controls, which therefore cannot be customized.
Will LingoWare support the translation of additional programs?
Yes. LingoCom, maker of LingoWare, is actively seeking new programs to translate.
Make sure you frequently visit the download area for new translations. You can also put in
a request for LingoCom to translate a specific program.
How do I use LingoWare's customization features?
LingoWare Edit features are disabled by default. To enable them select
"Options" from the General menu and click the "Enable Editing" box.
What is the relationship between AOL and LingoCom?
LingoCom is the premier translator of ICQ. The two companies are working together
to enable computer users who do not speak English to use ICQ.
